Welcome to Ex Libris Kitis ~ From the library of Kitis
Books for a Butterfly
The Butterfly’s Book fell from the skies and landed in the lush spring meadows. They mark a stunning collaboration of Kitis’s and Josefine’s studios, blending the magic of book binding and cyanotype. If this book was a girl, her name would be Dahlia, born under the spring sun, in a basket full of the garden’s harvests.
A Painter’s Book
This book was made to capture the whimsy ideas of my friend, Avery Houlshouser. She’s a painter that bursts through the rules to depict the feminine in all its layers. This books not only captures her colourful presence, but the pages inside hope to inspire and add to her creative processes whenever they come. I believe every artist needs an artist book that reflects themselves, pages that were made just for them and their imagination.
A book for a Poet
This volume was envisioned specifically for a poet who longs for love, crafted to hold the weight of verses dedicated to that endless pursuit. The deep brown pages carry a sense of antiquity that makes the book feel like a relic pulled from an old-world library. Dressed in vintage lace and adorned with garden-grown botanicals that bleed erratic, emotional pools of crimson and deep indigo, it is a tactile piece designed to look and feel like old money. Each page stands ready to absorb a love that is as beautiful, unpredictable, and haunting as the chemistry trapped within its fibers.
Dreamlander
The Dreamlander is a book that took me to the realm between realms. The pages show a softness that pulls me in and hugs me, letting me know it’s time to walk the dream world. I’d like to think the star on the cover is lifting the blanket, letting me into a world that I’ve never seen before.
A book for a little Dragon
You ever cut into a dragon fruit and just gawk at the intense marron that’s hidden inside? I couldn’t help but wonder how that would look on handmade paper. Let’s take it a step further and make the whole book mimic a dragon fruit itself! The Dragon’s book is a prototype for plantable books, embedded with seeds and intended to be planted once the book is finished. Stay with me, imagine you reach the end of your journal and its words can turn into a plant that bears fruit for you to enjoy……..sign me up.
Lost as Sea
The Seafarer’s ledger does not merely tell a tale; it unearths a chronicle layered in obsession and dark tragedy. Beneath its weathered pages lie fevered accounts of the unseen—of leathery-winged creatures dropping like shadows through the canopy, and gnarly, carnivorous plants waiting in the humid rot. The book feels alive, heavy with the secrets of a tropical abyss, practically demanding to be filled with the world's most beautiful horrors.
Kitis II
The Kitis II is the first sketchbook made for myself, intended to hold collages, paintings, poetry and more. I needed a home for my creative works and got bored of the bleached sketchbooks we buy from the stationary stores. This books marks the beginning of my bookbinding journey, being the prototype for all books to come.
